Wild fruit, no ID, Vietnam

Below are photos of a wild fruit from the dry tropical forests of S. Vietnam. As you can see in the photo, the outside is somewhat fuzzy. Inside you find a dry, almost powdery pulp surrounding a smooth seed. The taste is reminiscent of tamarind, the texture is closer to that of Algarobo (Hymenea coubaril). In local markets they sell for 70,000 VND, which is quite pricey in comparison to other fruit.

I would be very interested in a positive ID if you have any ideas… please let me know via the comment forum.
