Ceanothus dentatus is a California endemic with small holly-like leaves and blue flowers. It grows primarily along the coast and just inland.
I love all these Ceanothus you are finding Spencer….this one is like a wee jewel.
I love this plant. While now living in Scotland, where for some funny reason this grows well, I see it and am reminded of my childhood in California.
Yes, I believe it is quite popular in parts of Europe, I know many of the famous cultivars were developed in the UK, however I believe all wild Ceanothus species are from the West Coast of US with the most concentration in California.
Again I really love those holly like leaves. Cheers for sharing these endemic species to California Spencer. Most interesting to we far flung Antipodeans :)
I love the intense colour.
Wow – Ceanothus is a plant, I would like to try over here! Thanks for sharing,
