Sideways tree – Mt. Tamalpais, California

This California Bay Laurel (Umbellularia californica) decided to grow sideways for some reason. It had these very long lateral branches, perfectly parallel to the ground.

That’s a beautiful tree and I love the moss coating…lots of moisture in that forest (I have envy!)…my poor trees would LOVE a nice moss coating…all they can hope for is lichen!
