Borainaceae, Echium pininana, tree echium – N. California

Here’s a photo my mom just sent from California, of her standing next to a giant echium that I grew from seed… Its biennial or triennial, flowers once and then dies. The plant grew about ten feet last year as it sent out the flower bud. This species of echium is native to the Canary Islands.

A little bit of both. Its quite large and she’s pretty small.
Always handy to have a teeny mum when trying to magnify the size of things…you can loan her to us when we want to make our mushrooms look bigger
I REALLY want to try growing these here in zone10 florida but people keep saying it can’t be done well. Probably will try, anyway though! These are great pics and your mother is adorable!!
